Please Read Before Applying: This Position Is Located on the Island of Maui, State of Hawai'i Position Overview A Airport Law Enforcement Officer - Armed Patrol in Kahului, HI will serve and safeguard the airport, its facilities, its travelers, and airport operations. Position Type Part Time - Morning Pay Rate $28.86 / Hour with an hourly bonus of $3.58. Premium paid shall be based on the position actually worked by the employee. Job Schedule Tuesday 4:30 AM - 2:30 PM Saturday 4:30 AM - 2:30 PM Minimum Qualifications (NO EXCEPTIONS) 2+ years of professional law enforcement experience in the U.S. after graduating from a certified law enforcement academy (Federal, State, or County level). Pre-Employment Requirements Graduate of Law Enforcement or Military Police Training Program or Equivalent (must provide credentials upon applying). Valid Driver's License. Law Enforcement Officer License. 22+ years of age. Basic Qualifications The basic qualifications listed below are representative of the relevant knowledge, skills, and/or experience required in order to be hired. These are requirements that we have determined are the minimum a candidate must have in order to be successful in this role. Formal Education, Licenses, and Certifications Required Certified State law enforcement recruit training. Certified County law enforcement recruit training. Federal law enforcement training. Programs approved by the Director. Legal and Background Requirements No felony convictions or convictions for abuse of a household member under the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 (18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(9)). No documented truthfulness infractions in violation of Giglio/Henthorn for federal impeachment proceedings. A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions. Knowledge and Skills Required Must be able to supervise Contractor’s personnel and work effectively with airport management, tenants, other law enforcement agencies and the public on matters relating to security disputes, complaints on the performance, conduct or behavior of subordinate employees. Other Qualities That Enhance Hiring Consideration No record of moral turpitude, domestic violence, untruthfulness, or mental or emotional disorders which may interfere with performance of duties. Responsibilities Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities. Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner. Exercise sound judgement and render immediate, appropriate decisions under stressful conditions. Demonstrate maturity in conduct, behavior, and attitude. Follow orders, instructions, and assume responsibility for one’s actions. Maintain alertness, attentiveness, and professional conduct, recognizing and responding appropriately to various situations. Maintain strong moral character, truthfulness, and high standards. Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing in English. Display courtesy in interactions with the public, airport employees, tenants, law enforcement and security personnel. LEOs may be required to provide a court appearance for citations issued on behalf of DOTA; contractor shall provide replacement staffing for LEOs required to attend a court proceeding. Physical Requirements and Environment Mentally and emotionally capable of performing all duties required for their assigned post. In good physical health; able to stand, walk, patrol, climb stairs, run, and perform self-defense as required. Perform essential physical tasks, including lifting objects up to 25 lbs for a designated distance. Assist in safe evacuation of individuals, including carrying a small child or supporting persons with limited mobility. Subject to a random drug screen. Exercise physical force when required in official duties. Pass security background check conducted by the DOTA pass and ID office. Well-groomed and neat in appearance as officially commissioned representatives of the State. Pass a one-time physical examination within the past 6 months. Pass a 12-panel drug test and all future random drug testing. Correctable vision to 20/30 each eye with normal color vision; hearing within normal conversational level.
