Responsibilities:

GENERAL DESCRIPTIONThe CTE Advisor/Recruiter reports directly to the Director of Advising and Recruiting and is responsible for leading advising and recruiting efforts for our Career and Technical Education students and programs. Duties and responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS1. Advise current and prospective Career and Technical Education students on degree and program requirements and provide referrals for campus support programs.2. Assist in the development and implementation of college recruiting plans, recruiting events, and recruiting materials for CTE programs.3. Establish close working relationships with high school counselors and workforce partners in the community; initiate, coordinate, and conduct CTE presentations to high schools and community groups.
4. Maintain close working relationships with Career Services Success Coach, Industry Marketing Specialist, and internship/apprenticeship leaders in relation to students preparing for the workforce.5. Establish close working relationships with technical program faculty in planning career pathway events such as open houses and career expos.
6. Participate in the planning and implementation of campus events such as new student orientations, campus tours, career fairs, etc.7. Coordinate the response of the college requests for information about CTE programs and degrees using student applicant tracking software.8. In collaboration with others, plan and implement workshops geared towards job placement for CTE students/graduates such as career development, resume building, and interview skills.9. Assist in advising AAS transfer students as needed.OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS1. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
EducationAssociate degree required. Bachelor’s degree in counseling, psychology, education, communication, or related fields preferred .ExperienceExperience working in higher education and/or recruiting preferred. Experience in project management or event planning preferred.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of academic advising techniques and of computers, applications, and software programs that support advising programs preferred. Knowledge of the Texas State University System, industry and technology, recruiting, and job placement is preferred. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills. Bi-lingual preferred. Must be able to work some nights and/or weekends. Requires travel.Physical RequirementsRequires frequent sitting, walking, and standing. Requires frequent driving, lifting, and pushing, pulling, and carrying objects up to 20 pounds. Requires operating a personal computer, calculator and various pieces of office equipment. Requires infrequent stooping, bending, sorting, and filing.Security SensitiveThis position is security-sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215.WORKING CONDITIONSNormal office environment, requires travel within a hundred-mile radius, and may require some overnight travel to conferences or workshops.
