Summary of Position and Duties:

Visit Austin has an immediate opening for a Data & Research Manager. This full time, exempt and salaried position will report directly to the Director of Market Analysis & Research and collaborate closely with the Conventions Sales & Services and Marketing departments to implement data driven decisions and understand the impact of Visit Austin’s investments across initiatives associated with the Austin Public Tourism Improvement District.

  • Compliance with the Personnel Policies & Operations and the Financial Policies & Procedures manuals.
  • Work closely with the Director of Market Analysis & Research, Director of Convention Services, Marketing and Strategic Relations.
  • Work in concert with Convention Sales to create and maintain new hotel partner accounts.
  • Manages Partner engagement with the CRM/Partnernet; serve as primary contact for external Partnernet inquiries
  • Manage administrative aspects of the CRM, including troubleshooting and resolving issues logged by end users of CRM
  • When needed, lead external trainings for Partners
  • Work in concert with Convention Services and Convention Sales for the development and deployment of post-convention reports, including the economic impact analysis report
  • On an ongoing basis, review research data subscription dashboards and provide summaries of key findings, trends, performance and actionable insights to the Director of Market Analysis & Research and Marketing leadership team to implement for TPID initiatives.
  • Become an expert at maximizing the impact of our data subscriptions, including Zartico, FuturePartners and Key Data, among others.
  • Assist Director of Market Analysis & Research with reports and data projects as needed.
  • Have a good working knowledge of the software systems used at Visit Austin including, but not limited to, the CRM, Microsoft Office Programs and Google Suite.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Attend departmental and full staff meetings as required
  • Attend industry events and meetings that are appropriate; occasional travel for conferences and education may be required
  • Continue to take every opportunity to learn about the hospitality industry and take advantage of training opportunities when possible
  • Perform other duties as required; be prepared for last-minute projects.

Key Qualifications and Skill Requirements:

  • Must live in the Austin Metro Area or be willing to relocate to the Austin area due to in-person hybrid work schedules.
  • Qualified individuals should be fully capable of taking direction and work well under pressure
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, along with 3+ years’ experience working with database management and/or business analysis, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of a travel-related industry is a plus.
  • Important personal traits are the ability to learn quickly, take initiative, work with little supervision, and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Desired experience includes customer service and direct communication face-to-face, via telephone, virtual meeting and email.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Gemini (or other AI tools). Skills test will be required during the interview process.
  • Ability to define problems, collect and distribute information to appropriate parties, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
  • Ability to engage and converse with a diverse group of people including executives, managers, and staff; ability to effectively present technical information and respond to questions
  • Must have reliable means of transportation to attend off-site appointments and events
  • Goal driven and solutions-based thinking towards problem solving
