Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A full-time Teacher for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students is needed for a K-12 public school assignment in the Chattanooga, Tennessee area, supporting a diverse caseload of students across multiple schools. This contract opportunity runs through the current school year, starting as soon as possible and ending May 21, 2026. On-site presence is required; remote or hybrid arrangements are not available.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction and support tailored to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students following their individual schedules.
  • Collaborate with school staff and families to develop and implement individualized education plans.
  • Monitor student progress and adapt instructional approaches to meet varying needs.
  • Maintain compliance with Tennessee Department of Education requirements and documentation standards.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the overall educational goals of the assigned schools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Tennessee Department of Education certification in teaching Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
  • Experience working with K-12 students in a school setting.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and families.
  • Ability to manage varying caseloads and schedules across multiple schools.
  • Commitment to on-site full-time work (35-37.5 hours per week) with flexibility according to student needs.

Location:
Chattanooga area, Tennessee positions require on-site attendance with travel to assigned schools as needed.

This is a contract role supported by a District Support Manager and Business Development personnel, with placement pending final board approval. Immediate placements are possible in the interim.
