Position Summary: Dispensary Associate

The Dispensary Associate is responsible for capturing and dispensing all prescriptions in our formulary for all Work/Comp and Auto cases (with assigned attorney) as ordered by FOI dispensing providers for patients. The Dispensary Associate is responsible for updating and complying with all Federal, State and local agencies for an In-house pre-packaged Dispensing program.

The Dispensary Associate will also handle certain aspects and workflows related to specialty injections ordered by our physicians. This person will need to have a thorough understanding of insurance criteria requirements, clinical documentation, insurance benefit verification including authorizations and referrals, estimating patient responsibility and scheduling processes.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required
  • 1-3 years experience working in a pharmacy or dispensing clinic setting with prescription knowledge, or medical assistant experience.
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician certification preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivers exemplary customer service to our patients, adjusters, case managers, and providers.
  • Distribute walkie-talkies in each zone daily.
  • Must be multi-tasked with handling the volume of prescriptions that match our formulary for Work/Comp patients.
  • Communicates with the patient on the prescriptions being ordered and dispensed.
  • Understanding of IT information platforms
  • Ensure that the physicians are aware of the prescriptions, brand and generic in our formulary
  • Update and maintain the inventory to meet the needs of our physicians.
  • Report on the missing prescriptions on a weekly basis that could have been captured.
  • Run daily, weekly and monthly reports on the Dispensary software,
  • Ensure the Dispensary software, AHCS is updated with Physician(s), Fellow(s) and PA(s) information for dispensing purposes.
  • Ensure the Dispensary software, AHCS is updated with the formulary and current AWP, FOI cost and profit for reporting purposes.
  • Documents and keeps accurate records for the Department of Health.
  • Ensures that the patient’s experience with Florida Orthopaedic Institute is a positive experience.
  • Cross train with the Injectable Specialist to assist with verifying insurance benefits, authorization, scheduling and distributing of the injectable medications.
  • Cross train the Injectable Specialist to cover the Dispensary.
  • All other duties as assigned.
