We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Assistant Controller to play a key role in the financial operations of a rapidly growing, multi-unit hospitality portfolio. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance & Accounting, this position will be instrumental in overseeing the general ledger, managing month-end close, and ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting across multiple locations.

The ideal candidate is organized, process-driven, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with property leaders, contribute to operational success, and grow into a future Controller-level position.

Key Responsibilities

General Ledger & Accounting Operations

• Manage daily general ledger activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and intercompany transactions.
• Maintain the integrity of the general ledger with consistent account usage across multiple properties.
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Reconcile bank statements, credit card transactions, and balance sheet accounts.

Financial Reporting & Compliance

• Prepare internal financial statements and property-level reporting packages.
• Support annual audits by coordinating with external auditors and providing required documentation.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal control policies, and hospitality accounting standards.
• Maintain documentation for all regulatory and tax-related filings.

Operational Support

• Partner with property GMs and department heads to provide financial insight and enforce accounting policies.
• Track capital expenditures and maintain fixed asset schedules.
• Coordinate with AP, AR, and payroll teams to ensure accurate and timely journal processing.

Team Collaboration & Process Improvement

• Train and mentor junior accounting staff.
• Work cross-functionally with HR, Operations, and Procurement on financial procedures and reporting.
• Identify and implement process efficiencies and system enhancements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, hospitality industry experience strongly preferred .
• Solid understanding of general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Experience with hospitality accounting systems (e.g., R365, Compeat, QuickBooks, Opera, or similar).
• Strong Excel skills and proficiency with financial software platforms.
• Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and adaptable to change.

Preferred Attributes

• Multi-property or multi-entity accounting experience.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Familiarity with Texas tax laws and hospitality operations.
• Ambition to advance into a Controller role over time.
