Job Description

This store design position will be part of the Amazon Worldwide Retail Growth & Development. We are an exciting, fast-moving business unit, where everyone on the team needs to be entrepreneurial, wear many hats and work effectively in a highly collaborative environment. You are the right person for this job if you are a creative problem solver with curiosity and drive for learning and a passion for customers. You must demonstrate the ability to efficiently drive multiple projects throughout all phases of design, permitting and construction administration. Key job responsibilities
• Solutions oriented, proactive and flexible attitude; willingness to take an “all hands-on deck” approach
• Translating brand design standards and concepts in an innovative yet fiscally responsible way
• Working across a large portfolio and multiple banners with a diverse set of programs
• Manage the design process, interfacing with internal and external design partners
• Adapting site specific conditions metrics and standards to store designs
• Responsible for building data driven scope of work with internal stake holders, focused on servicing operating stores
• Responsible for development of FF&E and Décor packages
• Work with key internal and external stakeholders in the development and production of comprehensive design development packages
• Create presentation packages to communicate design with cross-functional teams and senior leadership
• Drive and create Schematic Design Packages
• Coordinate with Construction, Procurement and Operations Teams on budget and schedule considerations and value engineering efforts
• Manage consultants throughout all phases of design through the project lifecycle
• Provide Construction Administrative support as needed
• Archive completed drawings, redlines, and shop drawings
• Obtain landlord approvals per lease requirements
• Review and approves submittals and shop drawings
• Demonstrated ability in building and health codes, 3D visualization, and industry trends
• Demonstrated ability to communicate design vision in visual, written, and verbal formats
• The ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills
• The ability to work effectively in an extremely fast paced, ambiguous environment

About the team
The Worldwide Retail Growth & Development Design team approaches every site with customer obsession from the ground up to offer seamless grocery shopping experiences, whether customers are shopping in-store or online. We are at the forefront of revolutionizing a diverse grocery store network transforming the shopping experience through innovative store design. Our thoughtful designs work backwards form the customer to create experiences that transform everyday grocery shopping into an effortless journey. We optimize store layouts to create intuitive and efficient shopping environments while ensuring our designs are customer obsessed and prioritize workflow efficiency.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in architecture or interior design
• 5+ years of commercial retail design or architecture experience
• Intermediate Revit skills required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Grocery experience strongly preferred
• Architectural or Interior Design FF&E background preferred
• Adobe Suite, Bluebeam, Enscape, SketchUp, SmartSheet
• Knowledge of current sustainability trends and practices preferred
• Proven track record of owning projects from start to finish
• Ability to manage change though multiple projects in various phases of design
• Experience with design development, construction documents, permitting and construction administration
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in an extremely fast paced, ambiguous environment

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $58,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $124,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
