TransCore (TCI), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is searching for a Technician I (Utility Locator) to join our team in Tampa, Florida Summary: The Utility Locator determines where existing underground utilities (such as fiber optic cable, electric power, gas, water, and sewer systems) are located. Utility Locators may use electronic detection equipment in their work, may regularly be exposed to heat, rain and other elements of outdoor weather, and may be required to perform physical activities such as using a shovel to unearth utilities as well.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. - Responsible for the correct, safe, and efficient locating of underground utilities, including fiber optic cable, telecommunications, electric power, gas, water, and sewer systems.
- Reading maps and blueprints to determine where utilities are located.
- Taking time to thoroughly search for underground utilities in an area, accurately marking the location, completing the necessary paperwork, and photographing each locate.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record; driving is required for the position.
Required Skills & Abilities: - Proficient with MS Office Suite (word, excel, outlook)
- Must complete and pass a Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) background check and/or SLERS as required by the project
- Be able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Previous outdoor experience is a plus!
- Be able to work overtime and weekends (as needed)
Desired Skills & Abilities: - Maintenance of Traffic Certification preferred but not required
- Ability to read roadway plans, create/close work orders
Education: - High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Typically requires 2 years-experience performing utility locates
