This position is responsible for performing complex service and repair of our tractors, trailers, chassis, containers, and power equipment on-site at customer sites or rail yard using a mobile service truck.

The hourly pay range for this role is between $28.47 and $42.71 per hour. We are offering a $1,500 sign-on bonus for a limited time!

Key Responsibilities:


  • Perform complex diagnostics, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance tasks including, but not limited to, tire replacements/flat repairs, brake repairs, electrical diagnostics, and basic structural repairs on tractor and trailer equipment


  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair ABS system and specialized equipment including refrigerated units, lift gates, and frame alignment



  • May onboard and mentor new technician trainees; act as team lead to coordinate shift support and tasks



  • Follow all safety requirements while at a customer or rail yard



  • Professionally operate assigned service truck and according to company requirements; properly attend to service truck parts inventory



  • Accurately complete work orders and other written materials according to established procedures



  • Properly document damage to company equipment to estimate the cost of repairs



  • Demonstrate proficient use of a cutting torch and welding equipment to perform mid-level repairs on chassis, frames, and other equipment



  • Patch holes in trailer/container side panels and roofs ensuring all holes are sealed and water-tight



  • Perform annual AA Trailer and FHWA Brake Inspections sign-off

Minimum Qualifications:


  • 18 years of age for equipment up to 10,000 lbs. or 21 years of age for equipment over 10,000 lbs. with 2+ years of experience in semi-tractor or semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Possess a clean motor vehicle record per J.B. Hunt guidelines

  • Able to supply your own basic tools or purchase through our toolbox purchase program

  • Willingness to work outdoors in the elements

  • Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends, if needed

Preferred Qualifications:


  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 3+ years of experience in semi-tractor or semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent

  • DOT certified in FHWA Inspections and Air Brakes

  • Welding certification, forklift certification and experience

  • EPA section 608 certification and refrigeration license

  • Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas through various mediums.

  • Proficient computer skills and/or comfortable working with a computer, including Microsoft Office suite.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and as part of a team

  • Ability to use time and resources efficiently and effectively

  • Ability to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds) and wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE)
